1946Sam Saiia founds Birmingham Excavating Co., the forerunner to Saiia.

1984Jody Saiia purchases Birmingham Excavating from his father, Sam Saiia.

1989Birmingham Excavating merges with Allwaste Environmental Services, creating BEC/Allwaste.

1997BEC/Allwaste is acquired by Phillip Services Corp., a publicly traded Canadian firm. The company is rebranded as BEC/Phillip.

1999Senior BEC management purchases BEC/Phillip, returns it to private ownership, and changes the company’s name to Saiia Construction Co. LLC.

2010Insight Equity Holdings LLC purchases a controlling interest in Saiia Construction. Saiia is later made part of Insight’s American Civil Constructors/ACC Cos., a full-service, national civil contracting company with regional offices in six states.

2022IEA and its affiliated companies were acquired by MasTec and are now part of the organization's Clean Energy and Infrastructure segment.
